學校沿革
民國三十四年臺灣光復，地方人士有鑑於中等教育亟待加強，共商以日據時期之農業專修學校為基礎，於民國三十五年成立【私立新民初級中學】，先後由徐定標先生及鄒德龍先生擔任校長。
民國五十年奉准改制為【公館初級中學】，由徐虎喜先生擔任校長，在職九年，各方面均有傑出表現，女子排球更屢獲全省比賽冠軍，盛名遠播。民國五十七年改制為【公館國民中學】，推行九年國民教育。
民國五十九年由張殿臣先生接任校長，在職十年，由於實施九年國教，學生人數激增，並擴建多項硬體設施。張校長注重學生四育之均衡發展，除了保持優異升學率外，女子壘球更屢次得到全國性比賽之冠、亞軍，培育出數十名國手，對我國女子壘球的發展貢獻卓著。
民國六十九年由劉吉祥校長繼任，劉校長熱心奉獻，事必躬親、校務蒸蒸日上，然不幸積勞成疾，於民國七十五年因心臟病發辭世，全校師生及地方各界慟念哀悼，緬懷追思。
民國七十六年何文鉁校長接任，在校七年間注重生活教育，尤其是美育、德育之培養，頗有成效，何校長於民國八十三年榮退。
民國八十三年黃文宏校長接掌本校，黃校長辦學認真，民主治校，特別重視學生之升學與就業輔導。民國八十三年八月創辦音樂班培育音樂人才，建構成本校特色之一。民國八十七年十一月，大型多功能體育活動中心落成啟用，成為本校及社區重要活動場所，黃校長於民國九十年榮調大倫國中。
民國九十年余文秀校長接任，開辦資源班，設立親職教育專線，增進親師互動合作，與社區及家長合力推動九年一貫課程等教育改革政策。民國九十二年改建前庭園，將前校門之圍牆內縮，舖設學生步道區，並凸顯雪松之價值，除校容煥然一新且具特色外，學生上下學安全更獲保障，余校長於民國九十三年榮退。
民國九十三年鄧興增校長接任，承續前人之努力賡續辦學，承辦縣內技藝教育競賽，參加各學程競賽，榮獲教育部頒發全國技藝教育績優人員獎座及獎狀。除音樂班開設國樂組，館中升學績效也臻至高峰，締造竹苗榜首，國中基測全校平均公立學校第一名，鄧校長於民國九十七年榮調文林國中。
民國九十七年謝傳崇校長接任校務，賡續秉持著「德育為首，五育並進」的教育理想與「心中有愛，教育無礙」的信念，透過「四教、五項承諾、六好信條」，並以「良好風範、人性關懷、溝通協調、團隊和諧、士氣激勵、品牌建立、創新校園」來經營校務，再創榜首，全校振奮。謝校長於民國九十八年榮調國立新竹教育大學，繼續作育英才。
民國九十八年胡瑞蓉校長接任校務，秉持「務實辦學，照顧好每一位學生」，培養「有品格、有學力、有體力、具創造力及閱讀力」的學生，任內以身作則，音樂班屢創佳績，胡校長於民國一0一年榮退。
民國一0一年曾上濱校長接任校務，強調建構「愛與希望」的校園，以「學生第一，教學優先」、「多給孩子機會」與「多給學生舞台」為理念，推動「固本、拔尖、扶弱」的學習輔導。大力支持學校積極辦理語文、數理資優與補救教學，並推動技藝教育、藝才教育等多元教育不遺餘力，並於荷蘭國際環境及永續發展競賽榮獲金牌，曾校長於民國一0五年榮退。
民國一0五年八月一日方麗萍校長接掌校務，堅持「學生第一，教學優先」的初衷，秉持「教育是一個用生命感動生命，用智慧啟發智慧的志業」，故「以學生學習為中心，教師專業為優先，社區共榮為依歸」的目標，戮力維持館中優良校風。陸續獲得技藝競賽全縣獲獎率最高(112年前6名破校史紀錄)、客語認證全國通過率最高、寫作測驗滿級分全縣第一(109年全國寫作測驗範本)、課程計畫全縣五星(第一名)、語文競賽(客語朗讀、作文、原住民朗讀與情境式演說、客語字音字形)全國特優、青少年Powertech科技創意創新大賽競賽兩岸冠軍、全國音樂比賽國樂合奏特優、嗩吶獨奏全國第一名、文狀元連續二年(111-112年)榜首、籃球聯賽乙組全縣第一、國男徑賽總錦標全縣冠軍、親子天下創新100、未來臺灣教育100、總統教育獎、教育部閱讀磐石獎、教育部防災校園大會師基礎建置案績優學校、教育部107-111年國中教育會考榮獲扶弱成績優良學校、教育部教學卓越獎金質獎(全國第一名)、5A人數屢創新高、各項訪視評鑑屢創佳績……等殊榮，擦亮館中金字招牌。
本校成立以來，歷經七十七載，學生遍及各行各業，皆有傑出的成就與表現。校園牽繫起一代又一代的情感與共同記憶，卻也在歲月更迭中，因逾越使用年限而垂垂老矣。民國一0五年渥蒙慈濟慈善基金會減災希望工程挹注善款，鼎力協助校舍整體改建，一0七年四月舉辦動土奠基典禮，分二期改建，並於一0九年九月完工，一一0年十月辦理落成典禮。經黃建興建築師規畫下，原本封閉型之空間經改建後，動線益發流通，校園也以三棵老松定位，自校門口至內庭，進而延伸至操場。整體空間層次以老松串聯，既銜接歷屆傳承的校園記憶，亦以松樹堅毅昂然的精神象徵，期許新時代的莘莘學子於自由的學習環境下茁壯成長。
另風雨球場於民國一0八年一月動工，一0九年一月九日辦理落成典禮；活動中心與專科大樓也於一一0年十一月完成補強工程，操場整建工程一一三年四月啟用，整體校園工程圓滿完成；感念這段艱辛施工期間，苗栗縣政府與眾多貴人朋友們鼎力協助，且在前後總務主任崔春平與王怡婷不辭辛勞下，為校開創跨時代之氣象。在這館中歷史的轉折點，很幸運我們躬逢其盛，很幸運我們一起走過與眾不同的傳奇。因為有你而精彩，「館中七七，神采飛揚」，「今日你以館中為榮，明日館中以你為傲」。全校教職員生，共同努力，突破所有的框架，開展本校的一頁頁傳奇，永續展現出特有優良的風貌，並再創高峰!
Gongguan Junior High School Brief History

Foreword
It has been seventy-five years since the school was established. The students from all walks of life have made outstanding achievements and performances. The campus has linked the emotions and the common memories of generations to generations. However, as time goes by, the campus has become older because it has been over its durable years already. In 2016, Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation launched Disaster Reduction with Hope Project to contribute generously to assist in the overall reconstruction of the school buildings. In April, 2018, the groundbreaking ceremony was held. The construction period was divided into two parts. The project was completed in September, 2020. With the design of the architect, Jian-Xing Huang, the originally enclosed area has become spacious and bright. The campus with three old pine trees stretches from the school gate to the playground. The whole new campus connects the precious memories of the school with the old pines. It also hopes that the students of the new era will thrive in a free learning environment in the virtue of the great perseverance of the old pine trees.
The Covered Playground began construction in January, 2019. The inauguration ceremony for the Covered Playground was held on January 9, 2020. The reinforcement project of the Large-scale Multifunction Sports Activity Center and the Specialized Building were also completed in November, 2021. The overall campus was successfully established. We deeply appreciate the help from the Miaoli County Government, the benefactors, and our friends during this difficult construction period. The former director of General Affairs, Chun-Ping Tsui and the latter director of General Affairs, Yi-Ting Wang made every effort to create a new era for the school. At this turning point of the school’s history, we are very fortunate to meet this prosperity and experience the extraordinary legend. Because of everyone, the school becomes glorious. “GGJH 75th Anniversary, as brilliant as the sun!” “Today you are proud of GGJH, and GGJH will be proud of you tomorrow!” All the faculty and students join forces to break through all the frameworks and start the new pages of the legends of the school. We continue to show our unique and excellent attitude and soar to new heights!
History of the Principals
Ting-Piao Hsu & Te-Lung Tsou 1946-1961
In 1945, after the Taiwan Retrocession, in view of the urgent need to strengthen secondary education, the local residents proposed the establishment of a school based on the agricultural vocational school during the Japanese colonial period and founded “Xinmin Private Junior High School” in 1946.
Hu-Hsi Hsu 1961-1970
“Xinmin Private Junior High School” was reorganized as “Gong Guan High School” in 1961.
“Gong Guan High School” was recognized as “Gong Guan Junior High School” in 1968.
Nine-year compulsory education was implemented.
● Devoted himself to education and had remarkable achievements in all aspects.
● Headed the girls volleyball school team, which repeatedly won championships in the provincial volleyball competitions.
Tien-Chen Chang 1970-1980
● Expanded numbers of the hardware facilities because of the massive increase in the number of students.
● Focused on promoting the balanced development of compulsory education.
● Maintained an excellent exam success rate.
● Headed the Girls’ softball school team, which repeatedly won championships and the second place in the national softball championships.
● Trained dozens of national softball players and made outstanding contributions to the development of the girls softball in Taiwan.
Chi-Hsiang Liu 1980-1986
● Dedicated himself to education and school affairs.
● Led the school in becoming a thriving school.
● Unfortunately, Principal Liu died of a heart attack in 1986. Everyone felt so sorry beyond words for the loss with sincere condolences.
Wen-Chen He 1987-1994
● Advocated life education with remarkable achievements, especially the cultivation of aesthetic and moral education.
● Retired in 1994.
Wen-Hung Huang 1994-2001
The large-scale multifunction sports activity center opened, becoming an important venue of the school and the community in November, 1998.
● Ran the school earnestly and democratically.
● Emphasized the importance of students' education and career guidance.
● Established Music-Talented Class as one of the school features to cultivate the students’ music talent in August, 1994.
● Transferred to Daloon Junior High School in 2001.
Wen-Hsiu Yu 2001-2004
● Set up the Special Education Classroom.
● Set up the Parent Education service line to improve the parent-teacher cooperation.
● Promoted the educational reform policies such as Grade 1-9 Curriculum with parents and people in the community.
● Renovated the school front yard to freshen up the school in 2003.
● Moved the walls of the school front gate inward and built the school sidewalk to improve the traffic safety for students.
● Highlighted the value of the Cedar.
● Retired in 2004.
Hsing-Tseng Teng 2004-2008
● Dedicated himself to education and school affairs.
● Organized and participated in the skill competitions in Miaoli.
● Received a national award from the Ministry of Education for Prominent Practitioners of Practical Arts.
● Set up a Chinese Orchestra in Music-Talented Class.
● Led the performance of the exam success rate to the peak, cultivating the top talent among the junior high schools in Hsinchu and Miaoli.
● Transferred to Wenlin Junior High School in 2008.
Chuan-Chung Hsieh 2008-2009
● Advocated the educational philosophy “Moral education comes first, and five aspects of school education emphasize equally.” and the belief “Love is in my heart, and there is no obstacle to access to education.”
● Ran the school with good demeanor, humane care, communication and coordination, team harmony, morale motivation, brand building, and campus innovation by the four teachings, five promises, and six good beliefs.
● Cultivated the top talent among the junior high schools in Hsinchu and Miaoli, inspiring the whole people.
● Transferred to National Hsinchu University of Education in 2009 and continued to cultivate more college students with talents.
Jui-Jung Hu 2009-2012
● Advocated the educational philosophy “ Run the school pragmatically, and take care of every student.”
● Cultivated the talent with good character, good academic abilities, stamina, creativity and reading ability and practiced what she preached.
● Headed the students of Music-Talented Class to achieve greater success in the music competitions.
● Retired in 2012.
Shang-Pin Tseng 2012-2016
● Put emphasis on building a campus with love and hope.
● Advocated the educational philosophy “Students come first, and teaching takes priority,” “Give children more opportunities,” and “Give students more space to show.”
● Promoted the learning guidance such as consolidate the foundation, promote the potential students, and provide remedial instruction for the lower-achievers.
● Promoted verbally and mathematically gifted and talented education and remedial instruction.
● Promoted practical arts education and arts talented education.
● Trained students to participate in the International Environment & Sustainability Project Olympiad and the students won the gold medal.
● Retired in 2016.
Li-Ping Fang 2016-
● Insisted on the educational philosophy “Students have priority, and teaching comes first.”
● Advocated the educational philosophy “Education is a vocation that touches life with life and enlightens wisdom with wisdom.”
● Strived to maintain an excellent school ethos to achieve the goal of promoting learner-centered education, giving priority to teacher professional development, and driving prosperity across the school and the community.
● Developed students’ practical skills abilities and helped the students win the most awards in skill competitions in Miaoli.
● Received the highest qualified rate of Hakka Proficiency Test in Taiwan.
● Developed students’ writing ability and trained the most students who got full marks on the writing test in Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students in Miaoli. (One student’s composition was awarded as the best writing model in Taiwan in 2020.)
● Received the award of five-star Curriculum Planning (the first place) in Miaoli.
● Developed students’ language abilities and helped the students win first place in the Hakka Recitation Contest, Chinese Writing Contest, and Indigenous Languages Recitation Contest in National Language Contest.
● Developed students’ scientific abilities and helped the students win the championship in the PowerTech Science and Technology Hands-on Creation Contest for Youth.
● Cultivated more and more top talent who got full marks (5A) in Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students.
● Headed the school sports teams to achieve remarkable success in the sports competitions.
● Set up Miaoli County International Education Center and acquired an excellent reputation in Miaoli.
